The 2018 David Arthur DAV was the winner of a big tasting
we did of our top Napa Cabernets a few months ago. (Over some top $80 to $100
Cabernets.) We sold out then, and thought we couldn’t get any more – but we
did…and for even less than before!
We have long been admirers of David Arthur and their
top-notch, archetypal Pritchard Hill Cabernets and blends. With their new DAV
Proprietary Red blend, though, they’ve made an outstanding wine that’s more
affordable than their $175 to $250 offerings.
Not only does the Wine Spectator rate this the best DAV Red
ever…they rate it over 15 out of 20 vintages of David Arthur’s $250 flagship
Cabernet, the 1147!
Vinous also rates it the best DAV Red ever – and by a wide
margin. Indeed, they rate it equal to its Pritchard Hill neighbor, the 2018
Bryant Family DB4 (at $200)! And Dunnuck rates it above the top David Arthur
Cabernet Franc-based wine, the $175 Boucher.
